Abstract

838,166. Rotary I.C. engines. INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROLE, DES CARBURANTS ET LUBRIFIANTS. Nov. 14, 1957 [Nov. 14, 1956], No. 35573/57. Class 110 (2). A rotary I.C. engine of the rotary abutment type operated by a sparking-plug b or compression-ignition comprises a central rotor V, at least one rotary abutment G and at least one combustion rotor M having opposed recesses E1, E2 interconnected by a combustion passage C which may be shaped as shown or modified, see Figs. 3, 4 and 7 (not shown). The engine is provided with an air fuel inlet A, an exhaust outlet B, a transfer passage K for the combustion products and cooling passages such as F. The central rotor may incorporate five pistons cooperating with a pair of abutment rotors and a pair of combustion rotors, see Fig. 2 (not shown). For details of the shape of the pistons and the corresponding recesses, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) should be referred to.
