Abstract
886,142. Circumferential-flow pumps. SIEMEN & HINSCH. July 18, 1960 [July 18, 1959], No. 24902/60. Class 110 (1). In the circumferential-flow pump shown, the fluid flows to the suction port 8 of the first stage by way of an annular channel 3 of approximately the same cross-section as the intake 2. A rib 6 guides the fluid into the channel 3 in the required direction. The angular position of the suction port 8 relative to the channel 3 is not critical and can be arranged relative to the positions of the suction ports of the other stages to balance the radial loads on the shaft. The interstage channels 13 may be similar to the suction channel 3.
