Abstract

843,205. Street lighting fittings. MOOS, K. Aug. 14, 1957 [Aug. 14, 1956], No. 25717/57. Classes 75(2) and 75(4). A fitment for street lighting comprises at least two point or linear light sources each arranged within a hollow reflector in the form of a three-axis ellipsoid, the curved portions of which remote from the light exit aperture may however be replaced by flat surfaces, the reflectors being assembled on cut off vertex calottes with the longest and shortest axes in the plane of the light exit and the light sources being arranged with their centres on the parallel half axes of the ellipsoids extending at right angles to the plane of the light exit, the linear light sources when used being parallel to the longest axes. Fig. 2 shows two such reflectors 11, 12 in plan view. A third ellipsoidal reflector may be arranged between reflectors 11, 12 and may house a linear light source. The arrangements may be such that a light ray from one source impinging on the surface of the reflector at the line of join is reflected towards a point on the equator of the second reflector.
