843,012. Speed governors. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. Jan. 6, 1958 [Jan. 17, 1957], No. 1761/57. Class 57. A governor device for a fuel-injection internalcombustion engine comprises a chamber 5 which has one wall formed by a flexible diaphragm 6 connected to a control member 7 for the fuel-injection pump and is connected to the engine air induction pipe 1 by a conduit 4 having an acoustic capacitance such that the rate of increase in depression in the governor chamber with increase in speed is maintained substantially constant over the middle and upper speed ranges of the engine. The acoustic capacitance may be provided by interposing a chamber 8 between the ends of the pipe 4 or suitably modifying the length of this pipe. The pipe 4 is connected to the induction pipe 1 adjacent a Venturi 2.
