Abstract

842,668. Brushes. GLENHOSE Ltd. March 19, 1959 [Jan. 1, 1958], No. 75/58. Class 19. [Also in Group XXVIII] A brush or polishing roller 20, Fig. 1, mounted in the elongated mouth 5 of a suction nozzle 4 of a handle -propelled motor-fan suction cleaner is detachably mounted at its outer end on a pin 29, Fig. 2, projecting from a plate 25 held by a spring 32 in abutment with a plate 21 fixed to the nozzle end face and is detachably mounted at its other end on a pintle 15 passing through a sleeve 10 serving as a bearing for a rotatable drive roller 11 connected by a belt 12 to the motor shaft 13 is the bearing 10 being carried by a bracket 8 and a spring clip 7 by which said bearing is detachably secured to opposite longitudinal rim portions of the nozzle. The plate 25 is held against rotation by dimples 24, Fig. 3 (not shown), engaging recesses in the fixed plate 21 and the pin 29 is held stationary by engagement of a guard cup 34 with a pin 35 on the plate 25. The roller 20 is removed by pressing a check 36 of the plate 25 radially outwardly of the nozzle mouth and may be replaced by a dust-raising brush 26. The roller 20 is of foam rubber surrounding a steel tube 18 and coated with fur. As shown the nozzle contains a pair of such rollers or brushes.
