Abstract

352,754. Grinding. QUINKERT, F., 44, Rudesheimerstrasse, Kõfertal, Mannheim, Germany. July 28, 1930, No. 22664. [Class 60.] Band apparatvs. -A hand grinding machine comprises a grinding- band 4 mounted on a pulley drum 2 and running round elastic supports 5, 7 which tension the band and press the band on to the work. The pulley 2 runs on ball bearings on the armature shaft 10 of an electric motor 1 mounted in a casing 14, and is driven through gearing 11, 12, 13 ; the motor is situated within the pulley, which has a rubber covering 3. The supports 5 are mounted by spring-pressed pins 28 in arms 25, 26 carried by a pin 6 carrying the support 7 and pressed downwards by a spring 24 thereon, and the arms may be adjusted about the pin 6 to give uniform tension to both edges of the band, by a screw 9 engaging nuts 8 on the arms. The pin 6 passes through a sleeve 27 in which is a spring-pressed pin which serves to hold the support 7 raised for removal &c. of the band. A wooden frame 18 supported by pivots 21 surrounds the casing 14 and rests on the work. Dust is removed from the band by a brush 16 and is collected in a box 17.
