Abstract
841,539. Cranes with telescoping jibs. DEMAG-ZUG G.m.b.H. July 11, 1957 [Aug. 27, 1956], No. 22067/57. Classes 78 (4) and 78 (5). In ,a mobile crane having a jib of variable length, a limit switch device comprises a stop operated by the hoisting drum to switch-off the motor when the load hook nears the jib-head pulley, the stop being adjustable to allow for the variable length of jib and an indicator being provided to show the required position of the stop for a given length of jib. As shown, a rod 1, Fig. 1, moves axially as the winch rotates, carrying a stop 3 mounted on a tube 2 variable in position along the rod by an internallythreaded knob 4 mounted on a threaded reduced end portion 1a of the rod 1. A scale 6 indicates the correct position of the stop for any jib length. In a modification, Fig. 2, a ring 7 mounted for rotation on the rod 1 is internally-threaded at 7a to move axially a ring 8 carried by the non-rotatable tube 2. A securing bolt 9 in the ring 7 engages in one of a number of holes 8b in the ring 8 and carries a scale indicating jib lengths.
