Abstract

840,794. Mowing machines. SILORATORS Ltd. June 7, 1956 [March 19, 1955; April 27, 1955], Nos. 8074/55 and 12098/55. Class 6(3). A mowing machine, particularly for use in cutting grass verges, comprises a tractor-driven frame 10 supporting cutters 22 positioned to one side of the tractor, from which cut grass is fed through a conduit 27 to a fan housing 28 and from thence through ducting 29 which may be arranged to feed the grass into a collecting vehicle. The drive to the fan and to the cutters is derived from a main driving pulley 30 coupled to the power take-off of the tractor 11 through the medium of one or more universal and telescopic joints 32. The fan is driven from the pulley 30 via the belt 36 and the shaft 33, and the cutters via the belt 41, the shaft 38 and the belt 44 which drives pulleys 25 mounted at the top of the vertical shafts of the cutters, idler pulleys 42 serving to guide the belt 44. The machine is attached to the tractor through the usual three point linkage so that it may be lifted into an inoperative position. Specification 731,291 is referred to.
