Abstract

840,164. Pipe couplings. INVENTEX Ltd. Feb. 20, 1959 [Feb. 25, 1958], No. 5927/59. Class 99(1). In a gasket ring for a pipe joint and of the kind which acts in conjunction with the tapered surface of a connecting member 7 and an associated clamping or pressure member 5 and has a hard cutting edge 11 at the front end thereof to cut into the outer surface of a pipe 8, the forward part of the outer surface 13 of the ring is compacted and polished and the outer edge 12 is rounded and shaped with a rim-like, annular, guide lip or ridge projecting beyond the forward end face 10 of the ring. As shown, the ring is provided with a tapered rear face 4 against which bears the corresponding face 6 of a cap nut 5.
