Abstract

1,057,900. Pipe couplings. P. DESILLES. May 27, 1964 [May 27, 1963], No. 22010/64. Heading F2G. A connector for coupling a tube 46 to the nipple 44 of a screwed body comprises a deformable ring 45 provided internally with a sharp edge 67 adapted to penetrate the external surface of the tube, and a nut 47 for clamping the ring against the nipple, the ring comprising a forward part 56 for abutting against a face 49 of the nipple which is substantially plane and located in a plane at right angles to the axis, and is osufficiently substantial thickness to be practic ally undeformable, and a frusto-conical rear part 57 of relatively small thickness and consequently deformable which extends from the part 56 and is provided with the sharp edge 67. As shown, the part 57 is deformed by the conical surface 69 of the nut 47, and the sharp edge 67 is relieved by a conical bore 61 and has grooves 68 formed therein. In modifications, (a) the surface 69 of the nut is curved convexly, and (b) the rear part and face 52 of the ring 45 are convex.
