Class 98(2) A gelatino silver halide emulsion layer particularly suitable for microfilm recording has a thickness not exceeding 3Á, preferably 1.5Á, and contains a finely divided pigment absorbent of light to which the emulsion is sensitive. The pigment must be of small size, generally less than .1Á in average diameter. The emulsion may be panchromatically sensitized and the pigment black, as with carbon black, it may be iodobromide with 2.4 grams per litre of carbon black to give a transmission density of 0,4.
