Abstract

935,249. Photographic silver halide materials. KODAK Ltd. Jan. 12, 1960 [Jan. 12, 1959], No. 1089/60. Class 98 (2). A photographic light-sensitive material comprises a support and an unfogged silver halide emulsion of the surface latent image type mixed with or coated contiguous with a fogged silver halide emulsion of the internal latent image type. The emulsion of the surface type is preferably one containing from 0.5 to 99.0 mol. per cent of silver iodide. The emulsion of the internal type may be one of those described in Specification 635,841. It may be fogged by exposure to light or X-rays, or by chemical means. The molar ratio of surface emulsion to fogged internal emulsion may be between 42: 1 and 1: 3, but it is preferred that the molar per cent of the surface emulsion is at least equal to that of the fogged internal emulsion. When coated in contiguous layers, either emulsion may be coated on top of the other.
