Abstract
Benzthiazole - 2 - dicycloalkyl sulphenamides are prepared by reacting an N-dicycloalkyl amine, in which the cycloalkyl radicals may be substituted or unsubstituted and contain 5 to 7 ring carbon atoms, with an aqueous alkali metal hypochlorite solution to form the corresponding N - chloro - dicycloalkyl amine, and reacting this latter compound in the aqueous phase in the presence of a watersoluble aliphatic ketone (e.g. acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl propyl ketone or diacetone alcohol) with an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt of 2-mercaptobenzthiazole. The second stage of the reaction may be carried out in presence of 0.05 to 0.25 mol. of an alkali metal hydroxide or alkaline earth metal hydroxide per mol. of mercaptobenzthiazole.
