Abstract

838,894. Endless track vehicles. SCHLEPPERWERK NORDHAUSEN VEB. March 27, 1958 [Dec. 27, 1957], No. 9842/58. Class 79(1) An endless track 8 for a tractor or other vehicle passes round the normal rubber tyred rear wheel 7 and round double support rollers 6 which swing independently about a journal 3 and are connected with each other by a spring-loaded linkage 10, 11. The spring 13 in the linkage is compressed when an increased downward load separates the rollers 6. An annular shoulder on the spring casing 14 limits the movement of the rollers away from each other while a rubber buffer 15 limits their movement towards each other. The rollers are carried by arms having sleeves which fit one within the other, the inner sleeve engaging the journal 3. The track 8, which may be a chain or rubber band provided with studs, has internal ribs to engage the facing surfaces of each double roller 6. The latter may have a rubber periphery and be swung to an inoperative position 17 when the tractor is to be used normally.
