A pipe connector, e.g. of iron, bronze or a synthetic plastic, for a gas meter provided with two stub connecting pipes 5, 6, is constituted by a tubular member 1 having at right angles thereto, and respectively opposite the stub pipes, a pair of vertical tubes 2, 3 surrounded by annular passages 4, 4<SP>1</SP>, the tube 2 opening into the interior of the member. A cap 7 closes off either end of the member. In a modification, a shut-off valve having a floating seat is mounted in the tube 2.
