838,488. Coffee making devices. SZEKELY, G., and KLOCMAN, G. Nov. 4, 1958 [June 2, 1958], No. 35391/58. Class 129. [Also in Group XI] A coffee making device comprises an immersion heater 17 surrounded by a steam jacket 1, 4 which rests in an open vessel A containing water and has a riser tube 2 at whose upper end there is a container 9 for ground coffee with a perforated bottom 10, the whole assembly being liftable by a handle 15 connected to the heater. As shown, the jacket 1, 4 has a beaded lower edge 5 weighted and reinforced by a strip 7 and provided with a plurality of small holes 6. Container 9 has a lid 11 and a central sleeve 12 let into the bottom 10 which slides on to the reduced upper end of tube 2. The electric heating element 17 is carried on the lower end of a tube 14 which passes through and is fixed to plate 1 and contains a flex connecting element 17 to an electricity supply. The handle 15 is attached to the upper end of tube 14 and a hook 18 may also be attached to tube 14 to hook over the edge of a glass or the like when the device is placed therein. In operation, the water within ring 4 is turned into steam which rises through tube 2 into container 9 and condenses to drop down as hot water through coffee grounds held in container 9.
