Abstract
810,171. Steam cooking apparatus. SELFMARKETING SERVICE Ltd. Feb. 28, 1957, No. 6767/57. Class 28 (1). A steam cooker comprises a water-heating container above which is a steam heating chamber with a peripheral flange which overlaps an upward extension or collar on a cover disdosed above the container and around the steam chamber so that condensate from the outside of the steam chamber does not run on to the water container. The cooker comprises a rectangular housing 1 containing a circular water tank 4 heated by an electric immersion heater 6 connected by a plug 7 to the mains supply, a plug ejector safety device being provided. A cover 10 with a depending rim 33 is mounted above housing 1 by angle brackets 9 so as to be clear of an asbestos sheet 11 supported on a tank cover 12 mounted just clear of the tank body on an asbestos string 13. Tank 4 is filled with water through filler cup 30 which has a drain plug 31 and is marked with permissible high and low levels. Tank cover 12 has an upright hollow extension 14 in which a tube 15 is supported with an orifice 16 for the outlet of steam into a cylindrical chamber 17 with a removable lid 18. The top of tube 15 is closed and rounded to support a carrier 19 with partitions 20 for foodstuffs. The base of chamber 17 is formed by an annular bowl 21 with a central upright part 22 enclosing the hollow extension 14 and held by a lock-nut 23 threaded thereon. Bowl 21 is connected by an outlet pipe 28 with a drain cock 29. The inside edge of cover 10 has a lip 24 which is welded to the inside of a collar 25 whose top is disposed just inside and above the bottom edge of a flange 26 at the top of a ring 27 which embraces chamber 17.
