Abstract

1424972 Liquid heating and dispensing SUNBEAM CORP 21 March 1974 [31 Aug 1973] 12637/74 Heading F4A A liquid heater, particularly for heating water to just below boiling point for instant drinks, comprises a plastics housing 12 which supports a light gauge stainless steel reservoir 25 above a recess into which a cup or similar vessel may be received; a manually controlled dispensing outlet from the bottom of the reservoir; and a high wattage electric heating element 27 brazed to the bottom of the reservoir and controlled by a resettable thermostat 34 extending through the reservoir wall; the reservoir having a peripheral flange 25d which sealingly engages a top opening of the housing and a cover 65 being provided to close the top of the reservoir. The cover 65 has a cylindrical wall 65f which projects into the reservoir and a condensate baffle portion 65g which protects the region where the cover is hinged to the housing. A silicone rubber tube 55 connects an outlet region of the reservoir with a lever operated outlet valve 47 and a manually operable lever acts to turn on the heater by resetting the thermostat 34. A rear cover 14 is hinged to cover 65 and secured by screws 67.
