837,945. Flame desurfacing. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. Oct. 16, 1958 [Oct. 17, 1957], No. 33000/58. Class 83 (4). In a flame desurfacing head having a nozzle block 10 to the front of which are secured spaced upper and lower lip plates 14, 15 defining therebetween a cutting oxygen slot 20, a removable orifice plate 30 is inserted in a slot 26 in the nozzle block at the rear of the oxygen slot 20 for supplying the oxygen. The plate abuts a gasket 36 and is replaceable if its orifices 32, Fig. 5 (not shown), become blocked with slag. Bores 22 are provided for fuel gas and, bores 24 for preheat gas.
