Abstract
836,610. Cutting by fusion. CINK, A. Oct. 19, 1956, No. 31883/56. Class 83 (4). A hand-operated apparatus for flame cutting a circular aperture in a cylindrical surface 1 comprises a support 3 adapted to be mounted on an axis perpendicular to the axis of the surface 1 and carrying a cutting nozzle 12 and a pair of copying rollers 15 disposed respectively on opposite sides of the support. A threaded boss 2 carrying the support-rod 3 is initially welded to the centre of the aperture after being aligned by means of a gauge 4, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown). A sleeve 5 is then placed over the support for rotation and axial movement thereon. This sleeve carries a bar 6 supporting a sleeve 11 for the nozzle and a bracket 10 carrying a pair of universally-mounted copying rollers 15 which run on the curved surface and maintain the nozzle 12 at a constant distance from this surface. The nozzle is adjustable for making parallel or chamfered edges to the aperture.
