Abstract

835,631. Hop-plucking machines. STRETTLE, J. Dec. 1, 1958 [Sept. 13, 1957], No. 28869/57 Class 6(3). A machine for plucking hops from detached laterals or fragments of broken bines when these are fed indescriminately into the machine comprises a set of stripping elements 4a travelling along a predetermined path and a conveyer 5 for traversing the pluckable fragments along a parallel path at a different speed in the region of action of the stripping elements. The stripping elements 4a are wire loops upstanding from cross-bars on endless conveyers 1, 2, the conveyer 5 having one run 6 which passes between the conveyers 1, 2. The conveyer 5 has cross-bars 7 with upstanding fingers 8 which interleave with the loops 4a on the adjacent conveyers 1, 2. Belt gearing 10, 11, 12 driven by the motor 9 provides a diflerentialspeed drive to the conveyers 1, 2, 5. The material is fed through an opening 22 and the stripper hops fall on to the base of the machine.
