Abstract
834,928. Securing knobs &c. on shafts. EVERED & CO. Ltd. May 12, 1958 [Feb. 12, 1957], No. 4684/57. Class 80 (2). Two rotary parts such as shafts or the like, which in the form shown comprise a knob 6 and the setting spindle 5 of a thermostatically controlled valve, are secured together by forming the end 5a of the setting spindle &c. with axial splines which are meshed by two screws 8 carried in plain transverse bores 7b in a bush 7 having a main central plain bore 7a receiving the splined end of the spindle, the knob being secured to the bush by a suitable pin (not further described), adjustment of the screws 8 allowing the bush 7 and the knob 6 to be turned circumferentially with respect to the setting spindle. An end screw 10 locates the bush 7 axially. In the form shown, the screws 8 are similar to grub screws, but in a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the screws have heads which engage a plain face 7d on the bush 7. An axial projection 7e on the bush 7 co-operates with a fixed stop 10 on the valve casing to limit the angle through which the knob 6 &c. may be turned.
