492,976. Securing worm wheels on shafts. BROWN & SONS (HUDDERSFIELD), Ltd., D., and SYKES, A. May 4, 1937, No. 12655. [Class 80 (ii)] Means for securing a member such as a worm wheel b to a shaft a so that it is adjustable along the shaft but cannot rotate on it, comprise a nut c screwed on a reduced end a<2> of the shaft and secured to the wheel b by screws e passing through a flange on the nut, the wheel b being slidably secured against rotation on the shaft by keys d. The nut c is screwed tightly against a shoulder a<1> on the shaft, and the wheel b is drawn tightly against the flange of the nut, adjustment of the position of the wheel being obtained by the use of shims between the nut and the shoulder a<1> or the nut and the wheel b.
