Abstract
An electrically conducting, solderable silver layer is formed as a ceramic body, e.g. porcelain or a high or low dielectric constant dielectrice body which may be in the form of a capacitor, by fusing to the surface thereof a silver composition comprising finely divided metallic silver or a compound yielding metallic silver under firing conditions, and finely divided particles of a vitrifiable inorganic ceramic binder comprising 95 to 50% bismuth trioxide or a compound yielding bismuth trioxide under firing conditions and 5 to 50% of a frit comprising 2 to 10% alkali metal oxide, 35 to 75% bismuth trioxide, 5 to 15% boron oxide, 9 to 32% silica, and 0 to 35% cadmium oxide, or compounds yielding the oxides under firing conditions. The silver composition is dispersed in a vehicle, examples of which are given, the proportion of silver to binder being between 3 : 1 and 20 : 1. Specifications 721,858, 803,943, 803,944 and U.S.A.
