[Also in Group XXXI] This is a Patent of Addition altering the means for operating the toothed locking lever 24 that couples the belt-driven pulley 8 to the wheel-driving sprocket 17 as is shown in Figs. 5 to 7 of the parent Specification and claimed therein; the means comprises a turnable button 37 mounted on the pulley 8 diametrically opposite the pivot 23 of the lever and carrying eccentrically a pin 36 connected by a helical spring 35 to the lever at 34. An arm 33 extends the length of the lever for this purpose. When the button is turned from its " coupled " position just beyond the dead centre relative to the spring, the pin 36 travels round an arcuate slot 39 cut in the pulley. This releases the tension in the spring, which, when coil-to-coil, acts as a push-rod to move up the lever and disengage its teeth 31-32 from a toothed flange 16 coaxial with the sprocket 17. A resilient washer (not shown) serves to retain the button 37 in position after turning.
