Abstract
575,750. Film claw mechanism. MILES AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and BOHMAN, C. F. April 4,1944, No. 6287. [Class 97 (i)] In a film feed mechanism of the claw feed type, a lever, the free end of which constitutes or carries the claw, is pivoted at the other end and a lengthwise slot engages a pin in a crank, the lever being long in relation to the throw of the crank and able to yield resiliently in a direction away from the film when the crank engages that part of the slot remote from the film. As shown, the lever 1, pivoted in a housing 7 carrying a resilient spring 9, is engaged in the slot 3 by the pin 4 on a crank, the rotation of which urges the claw 2, which may be integral with or attached to the lever, into engagement with a perforation in a film 10. When in engagement with the film, the claw has a flat arcuate path, Fig. 9, controlled by the length of the lever, and after disengagement with the film the claw moves along an arcuate path of decreased radius. The lever may be in two parts, one sliding inside the other against a spring, the pivot in this case being fixed. A double claw may be used or the mechanism duplicated where perforations on both sides of the film are utilised.
