Abstract
828,095. Shearing; rolling mill plant. SCHLOEMANN A.G. Jan. 29, 1957 [March 27, 1956], No. 3140/57. Class 83 (4). In a method of cutting test sample lengths of moving rolled material, shears arranged immediately behind the roll stand have pairs of blades arranged for selectively making two cuts in quick succession, the blades being spaced apart by a peripheral distance corresponding to the length of the test samples. In one arrangement 4b, Fig. 4, for making a single cut and a pair of blades 5b, 6b, Fig. 3, for making a double cut are arranged on each of a pair of single heads 3a, 3b of a shearing machine 1. The work is guided into line with either the single or double blades by tubular guides 10, 11 actuated by a cylinder 12. Alternatively, where the work to be cut is heavy, the shearing-machine is moved on a guideway to bring the cutters into line with the work. In another example, a pair of opposed blade holders 22a, 22b, Fig. 6, are axially fixed on the shafts 21a, 21b of a pair of shears 20 and a second pair of blade holders 23a, 23b are axially movable on the shafts under the action of a double-acting cylinder 24 to bring the blades into or out of the operative position in line with the work to make the double cut.
