Abstract
827,968. Electron beam focusing apparatus. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. Feb. 25, 1957 [March 5, 1956], No. 6792/56. Class 39(1). [Also in Group XXXV] A magnetic focusing device for a cathode ray tube comprises two coaxial annular per manently axially magnetised magnets 1, 2 of moulded plastic bound powdered ferroceramic material which are adjustable axially with respect to one another, the magnets being magnetised in the same direction. The adjusting means which is incorporated in the mounting brackets 3, 4 comprises three bolts 5 with adjustable nuts 6, 8 which are opposed by springs 9. The three nuts 6, 8 can be coupled by means 10 to give equal nut movements. Bracket 3 is secured to the television or other cathode ray tube chassis. The cross section of magnet rings 1, 2 need not be square as shown, and rings 1 and 2 can have different individual cross sections. A prior art device comprising two sintered ferro-magnetic ceramic permanent magnets oppositely poled and relatively movable axially for focusing, is referred to.
