827,769. Treatment chambers. HIGGS, G. W. March 25, 1958 [March 25, 1957], No. 9762/57. Class 81 (2). A medical treatment chamber comprises a dish-like outer shell 10, a dish-like member 13 spaced within it, a cover 15 hinged to one edge of the shell 10 and seating when closed on the edge 12 of the dish-like member 13, heating means 18 between the shell 10 and the dishlike member 13 and openings 25 (Fig. 1, not shown), 26 in the bottom of the shell 10, in the cover 15 and the side walls of the dish-like member 13 respectively for the passage of air. An expanded metal grid 19 and a pad 23 of absorbent material capable of retaining liquid (e.g. water) are disposed respectively below and above sheathed electric heating elements 18. Thermostats 40, 42 with temperature responsive elements in the heating space and under the cover 15, respectively, and a thermometer 41 are provided. The edge 11 of the outer shell 10 rests in a horizontal loop 27 of a tubular metal frame having legs 29 and handles 31. A sleeve 34, for an oxygen cylinder which may be connected with the interior of the chamber is supported by the legs 29. Straps 44 secured inside the cover 15 and extending into the shell 10 support the cover when opened. The cover 15, arber shell 10 and dish-like member 13 may be made of thermoplastic material, the cover 15 being transparent.
