Abstract
803,044. Vapour baths. BAUMANN, E. Dec. 24, 1956 [Dec. 22, 1955 ; July 18, 1956], No. 39227/56. Class 26. In a transportable home sudatorium having a wall 31 capable of being rolled up when unerected and closed by a hood 32 of flexible material, steam is generated by drawing off water, which may be admixed with aromatic or medicated substances, from a container into the heated trough 39 of an electric heating stove 38. Below the trough 39 is a groove 106 carrying a heating element 105. The container 40 is attached to the chair 33 the under structure 37 of which is separated by a heat insulating ring 36 from the seat 34 and back rest 35. The closure hood 32 with controllable slots 74, 75 has a holder device 47 whereby the hood having pockets 72, 73 can be held in the manner required by arms 70, 71 on a yoke 66, thereon, for a head-free, a face-free or a full sweating bath, respectively. The holder device 47 for a full sweating bath is supported by a member 57 with holes 62 to permit the venting of air and steam, which can be regulated by having a slide 63 movable by a handle 65 across a hole 64 in a plate 59 above which is a groove 60<SP>1</SP> around which the closure hood lies, by means of an aperture closable by a zip fastener 78 through which the user puts his head for a head-free bath, a thermometer passing through a hole 94 into a sleeve below. Details are given of how the ends of the wall 31 are joined and how the container 40 operates. Various other types of supports and methods of joining them to the hood, or of placing the hood on them, are also described.
