Abstract

826,683. Preheating cement raw materials. POLYSIUS G.m.b.H. Sept. 28, 1956, No. 29756/56. Class 51 (2). Apparatus for preheating cement raw materials being charged into a rotary kiln 1 comprises a cyclone separator 3, large preheating chambers 5 and 7 through which hot waste gases from the kiln pass in turn, and a charging hopper 14 delivering into the chamber 7. Highspeed rotary devices 9 in each preheating chamber shower the charge material into the passing gases, and worms 11 deliver said material through pipes 12, either into the previous chamber 5 or into a flue 2 leading to the cyclone 3 respectively. Preheated charge material passes directly into the kiln from the cyclone 3. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), one of the large chambers is omitted, and the other is replaced by a rotary drum including a series of tubes through which the charge material passes in countercurrent to the hot gases.
