Abstract

755,029. Preheating and feeding granular furnace charges. SMIDTH & CO. AKTIESELSKAB, F. L. Jan. 28, 1954, No. 2655/54. Class 51(2). In apparatus for feeding and preheating powdered or granular material passing to a rotary kiln of the type in which the waste gases from the kiln pass generally in counter-current to the charge material through a series of cyclone separators, the last cyclone 6 is provided with an atomiser 12 delivering a fine spray of water which coats the material particles with a film and agglomerates the finer particles into larger grains. Charge material from a hopper 10 is delivered into the hot gases before they enter the last cyclone 6 and is fed from the first cyclone 4 into the rotary kiln.
