Abstract
1,166,696. Calcining granular substances; drying materials. F. L. SMIDTH & CO. A/S. 29 Aug., 1967, No. 39495/67. Headings F4B and F4G. Plant for burning cement raw material, lime or ore comprises a rotary furnace 6, opening into a hood 7 with a riser pipe 4 leading to a cyclone separator 5 and a hopper 11 with outlet pipe 12 leading to conveyer 13, a fan 18 downstream of the cyclone and a hopper, with rotary valve 2 feeding moist material into the riser pipe 4. From the fan gases pass to an electrostatic precipitator 21 with a hopper bottom 23. Material collecting in hoppers 11 and 23 and in cyclone 5 is fed by conveyers 13, 16 and 24 to pipe 25 either for use elsewhere, or to be fed to the rotary furnace. Charge material for the kiln is provided by hopper 8 through pipe 9 and valve 10. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), material from hopper 11 is fed by a valve controlled pipe which also receives gases from fan 18 to a crusher, from which gases pass to another cyclone and fan to the electrostatic precipitator. When the plant is used for burning cement raw material to clinker, moist lime is fed into the riser pipe 4.
