Abstract
1,224,638. Preheating and charging cement raw materials. POLYSIUS G.m.b.H. 18 April 1968, No. 18458/68. Heading F4B. A suspension preheater for cement raw materials being fed to a rotary furnace 10 comprises four cyclones 1, 9 with tangential gas inlets 6 superposed coaxially in a tube 8 which forms the upper cylindrical portion of each cyclone, each cyclone 1 also having a material discharge duct 7 leading to the upper part of the next lower cyclone and a gas entry duct 4 leading to an annular frusto-conical duct 5 formed with the inlet 6. The bottom cyclone 9 has a material discharge shoot 13 into the furnace and a hot gas main 11 from the furnace. In a modification (Fig. 2) there are two lower cyclones (9 and 9<SP>1</SP>) working in parallel and having gas outlets to a common swirl chamber (14) defined by a shaft enclosing two superposed cyclones (16 and 17).
