826,100. Telegraph transmitters. DET STORE NORDISKE TELEGRAF-SELSKAB A.S. Jan. 24, 1958 [Feb. 1, 1957], No. 2450/58. Class 40 (3). In telegraph apparatus controlled by a perforated tape travelling during operation along a guide 14 on the outside of a box 12, closed except for a few small apertures, and containing the feeding and sensing mechanism co-operating with the perforations in the tape, the pressure in the box 12 is maintained at a pressure above atmospheric to prevent access of dust and small tape particles to the enclosed mechanism. The box 12 is closed except for an elongated aperture 18 for a tape-feed wheel 20 and apertures 22 for the sensing pins associated with corresponding apertures or recesses in a tape arm 24 engaging in the guideway 14 during the operation of the apparatus. The pressure in the box 12 is maintained by a fan 28 driven by the motor 26 and connected via outlet 32, duct 34 and aperture 36 to the interior of the box 12. An air filter comprising steel wool 40 is disposed behind a narrowed portion 38 in the duct 34. If the amount of air discharged at the apertures 18, 22 is such that the air flow is insufficient for cooling the motor 26, an opening 42 in the duct 34 is associated with an adjustable damper (not shown) to allow increased air flow.
