1534976 Air filter D BRIERLEY 17 Oct 1977 [19 Oct 1976] 43241/76 Heading BIT [Also in Division F2] The upper outlet chamber of an air filter for removing dust from air drawn from shotblasting apparatus is connected to extraction fans (B, Fig. 1 not shown) by a valve which comprises an open-ended box of quadrant section and a valve member 5, 7 pivoted at 5a for rotation between a position (Fig. 3) providing an open through passage from outlet chamber to fans and a second position in which this passage is closed and respective passages are opened, by withdrawal of plate 7, through which ambient air may flow through one side of the box to the fans above and the outlet chamber below (Figs. 4, not shown, and 5). In the second position the filter bags are cleaned by reverse flow air while the fans are protected from overheating. The valve member is moved by a solenoid or pneumatic ram or manually.
