Abstract

825,990. Centrifugal driers. MEXY TRUST REG. Sept. 11, 1957' [Sept. 13, 1956], No. 28657/57. Class 34(2) In a centrifugal drier the rotary clothes &c. drum is secured to the shaft of an electric motor which is rigidly carried by the drum housing, so that the position of the drum is fixed in relation to the housing. In the embodiment described, the motor 5 is rigidly bolted to the lower part 8 of the housing and the driving shaft 12 is secured to the bottom of the drum 2 by means of a boss 4. To permit gyrating movement with an unbalanced load, the entire assembly is mounted on a resilient base 6 having suitably placed cavities. Water discharged through holes 3 in the drum collects in the trough 10 of the housing and is drained off through tube 9, a baffle 14 preventing eddying and formation of foam. The tube 9 is detachable and formed with a rim which can be forced into a hole in the bottom 8 and has a lip at the opposite end to engage an extension pipe.
