Abstract

825,502. Variable speed ratchet gear. ALMOND Ltd., D. June 25, 1957 [June 26, 1956], No. 19677/56. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group VII] A feed roller B in a sewing or tufting machine is driven by variable speed ratchet gearing. The roller is connected by a rod d<SP>13</SP>, provided at each end with a universal joint, to a shaft d<SP>9</SP> journalled in a bracket d<SP>10</SP>. Shaft d‹ is driven intermittently by the co-operation of a ratchet wheel d<SP>12</SP> thereon with a pawl d<SP>8</SP>. A bolt d<SP>7</SP> on the latter is adjustably fixable in a slot d<SP>6</SP> formed in an arm d<SP>5</SP> fixed to one end of a shaft d<SP>2</SP> which is journalled in a bracket d<SP>4</SP>. An arm d<SP>1</SP> fixed to the other end of shaft d<SP>2</SP> is coupled to the strap of an eccentric c on a main driving shaft C. The feed may be varied by altering the position of bolt d<SP>7</SP> in slot d<SP>6</SP>.
