Abstract

1,061,966. Friction gearing. SINGERCOBBLE Ltd. Nov. 23, 1964 [Nov. 23, 1963], No. 46354/63. Heading F2D. [Also in Division D1] Infinitely-variable gearing comprises a friction wheel 13 fast with a driving shaft 11, a friction wheel 15 journalled on a shaft 14 parallel to shaft 11, and a friction wheel 19 journalled on a bracket 18 slidable on a fixed shaft 17, wheel 19 being positioned in the overlap between wheels 13 and 15, and wheel 15 being spring-biased axially to ensure frictional engagement between wheels 13, 15 and 19. A screw-threaded shaft 20 passes through a nut formation on bracket 18 and is turnable by a hand wheel 22 for varying the driven speed of wheel 15, the latter being rigid with a belt pulley.
