824,634. Hydraulic jacks. SOC. INDUSTRIELLE POUR LA FABRICATION DES CINTREUSES MINGORIS.I.C. July 4, 1958 [July 18, 1957], No. 21542/58. Class 69 (2). [Also in Group XXX] An hydraulic jack 15 is actuated by liquid supplied by a hand pump 5 having a differential piston operating in chambers 8, 9 connected by passages 10, 11 to chambers 18, 17 of the jack. Passages 10, 11 are connected by by-passes 24, 25 to a valve chamber 14 leading to a reservoir 1. A valve member 13 is positionable to block either by-pass and to open the other to exhaust so that operation of the pump actuates the jack piston in either direction. At the end of a working (extension) stroke the jack piston uncovers a safety valve 29 to limit the pressure in line 11, a collar 27 on the piston forming a definite stop. During a return stroke the pressure of liquid is limited by the safety valve 29, and hence the pressure in chamber 8 is always limited to this value. Since this is the only pump chamber from which liquid can leak to the exterior, sealing of the pump piston can be readily effected.
