823,598. Electrolytic cells. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 14, 1957 [June 27, 1956], No. 19874/56. Class 41. An electrolytic cell for producing caustic soda and chlorine has anodes comprising graphite plates or blocks or conducting compositions containing a plastic material and graphite, the anodes being suspended or supported by electrical connections composed of titanium or a conducting metal, e.g. copper or steel, coated with titanium. In an example, the cell has a cover which is of titanium or of a conducting metal coated therewith and which forms the connection to an anode comprising a graphite lining secured to the cover, e.g. by titanium nuts and bolts, or a lining of a plastic material and graphite, e.g. as described in Specification 823,599.
