Abstract

823,316. Roller bearings. PITNER, A., and ROULEMENTS A AIGUILLES S.A. DES. May 13, 1957 [May 11, 1956], No. 15063/57. Class 12 (1). A needle roller bearing cage comprises axial bars 6 between which rollers 5 are located, the bars being integral with end rings 9 which are adapted to underlie annular plates 10 secured to the outer race 1 thereby allowing the ends of the rollers 5 freedom to contact the plates 10. The annular plate 10 is located in a recess in the outer race 1 by a ring member 12. The bars 6 are of square cross-section. In a modification, the centre parts 26, Fig. 4, of the bars lie in a circle of reduced diameter and the bars are bent outwardly at 28 near each end. In a further modification, the sides 37 of the bars 36 are curved as shown in Fig. 9 so that the distance e is less than the diameter of the rollers. Alternatively, projections 47, Fig. 10, are provided on the inner edges of bars 46. The rollers 35, shown in Fig. 12, have conical ends 39 which are adapted to overlie end rings 40 of the cage.
