Class 136(2) A hub shell for a coaster hub brake for a cycle comprises a cylindrical outer shell a having radial spoke attachment flanges b, a pair of inner shells e, f each with a portion g of larger diameter capable of abutting against the end of the outer shell a when the inner shell is inserted in place, the portion of larger diameter being formed as a bearing cup i for cup and cone wheel bearings. The outer shell may be internally screw threaded and each inner shell have a circular cylindrical portion which is correspondingly screw threaded on its exterior. Alternatively, the outer shell is finished with its inner surface circular cylindrical and each inner shell has an outer surface so dimensioned as to be an interference fit inside the outer shell into which it is forced. The metal of the outer shell is not hardened but the inner shells with the bearing cups are surface hardened throughout.
