Abstract
822,964. Oil cooling radiators. SERCK' RADIATORS Ltd. Feb. 26, 1958 [March 11, 1957], No. 7896/57. Class 64(3) An oil cooler for a diesel or like engine comprises a cooling- air duct a in which is located a fan d, an annular inner oil duct f disposed around the fan bearing b, oil inlet and outlet outer ducts disposed around the air duct a and tubes k interconnecting the inner and outer ducts. In the form shown, three outer ducts h, h<SP>1</SP> and h<SP>2</SP> are provided and the inner duct f is divided into two parts by a partition g. Oil from the engine enters the duct h by way of an inlet i and makes four passes across the air stream in passing through the tubes k to an outet i<SP>1</SP> from the outer duct h<SP>2</SP>. A further form is described in which the partition g is omitted and only two outer ducts are provided so that the oil makes only two passes across the air stream in flowing through the tubes k. Secondary heat transfer sure face m, n is provided on the tubes k.
