Class 64(3) [Also in Group II] A combined heating and mixing device consists of two semi-cylindrical hollow stirers 2, 2<SP>1</SP> eccentrically mounted on a hollow rotary shaft 3 in a container 1, a heating medium being passed through the inlet of the hollow shaft to the tubular arms 9, 9<SP>1</SP> through the hollow stirers, where heat exchange takes place between the heating medium and the liquid in the container, to tubular arms 10, 10<SP>1</SP> leading to a central bore at the lower end of the shaft and to an outlet 8 in the bottom of the container. Rotation of the stirers 2, 2<SP>1</SP> and shaft 3 on bearings 4 is effected by a worm wheel 5 driven by a worm 6.
