Abstract

731,569. Cleaning bearings. HONEY, A. G., and MEECH, J. R. RADINGTON-. April 14, 1954 [April 24, 1953], No. 11385/53. Class 12 (1). In apparatus for cleaning bearings, the bearings are disposed within a tank 2 on stubs 5 through which streams of cleaning liquid are directed into the bearings. The stubs 5 are mounted on pivoted arms 6, and the bearings are rotated by being spring-pressed into contact with a central frictional driving roller 11. Each stub 5 has a central hollow portion 9 and a number of circumferentially spaced radial bores 10. The roller 11 is mounted on a shaft 13 which is driven through reduction gearing by a motor 17. A pump 19, also driven from the motor 17, delivers cleaning liquid under pressure through a pipe 20 and flexible pipes 21 to the stubs 5. The liquid returns to a reservoir 23 through a drain 22. The whole apparatus is mounted in a housing 1. The cleaning liquid may be paraffin.
