Abstract

315,164. Carpmael, M. H., (Snia-Viscosa). Oct. 24, 1928. Stationary mixers with rotary stirrers. - In mixing and other machines in which a vertical driven shaft passes through the base of a container holding liquid, the shaft passes through a sleeve which is mounted on the base of the container and passes to a point above the level of the liquid, the driven members, such as stirrers, being mounted on a concentric sleeve connected at the top to the shaft. The driving shafts 1, Fig. 1, pass through bearings 5 to which are screwed the sleeves 6. The conoentric sleeve 7, Fig. 2, is driven from the shaft by a cross member 16, and is supported in a bearing 19, 20 on a stub shaft 22. The stirrers 10 are provided with hubs 9 mounted on the sleeve 7, the hubs being spaced apart by spacers 8, the bulbs and spacers having interengaging parts 12.
