821,751. Inclined crank mechanism. GIRODIN, M. G. H. June 25, 1957 [July 30, 1956], No. 19954/57. Class 80 (3). In mechanism for converting rotation of a shaft 9 into reciprocation of a plurality of pistonrods 6, or vice versa, an inclined crank-pin 8 on the shaft 9 carries a non-rotatable swivel member 3 supported on a spherical bearing 2 and coupled to the rods 6 by ball-joints 5, rotation of the member 3 being prevented by the engagement of a crown-wheel 10 on the member 3 with a fixed crown-wheel 11. The wheel 11 is integral with an upper part of a casing 1. The location of the crown-wheels is such that any yielding of the bearing 2 under the piston pressure tends to separate the engaging teeth rather than force them together.
