Abstract
821,428. Valves. FAXHOLM, H. N. Nov. 30, 1955, No. 34360/55. Class 135. A flow diversion valve with an inlet branch 7 and two owtlet branches 8, 9 comprises a housing with an outer chamber 1 communicating with the inlet branch and one, 8, of the outlet branches and an inner chamber 2 communicating at the bottom with the outer chamber and at the top with the other outlet branch, and a double-seated valve member 3 with a valve cone 4, 5 at each end, the valve member being movable within the inner chamber 2 from a lower position in which the branch 8 is blocked to an upper position in which the branch 9 is blocked, the inner chamber 2 and the valve cone 5 being designed so that in the upper position of the valve member fluid flowing to the outlet branch 8 creates a vacuum in the inner chamber so that no fluid passes upwardly past the valve cone 4 should this not seat properly. The housing is in two parts secured by a split retainer-ring 11.
