Abstract

820,202. Utilizing solar and natural heat; supply and delivery arrangements for hotwater boilers. MARTINI. P. A. Jan. 18, 1956 [Oct. 18, 1954], No. 29906/54. Classes 64(1) and 64(2) In a tank warmed by the sun or air from which warmed liquid, such as water for plants, baths or livestock, or liquid manure or chemicals for treating plants, is forced out by the pressure of incoming mains water, the cold water inflow is slowed down to avoid its mixing with the warm liquid. There is black paint, or one which absorbs infra-red rays, on the tank. As shown, cold water enters an inlet pipe st from a smaller-bored pipe e near one end and enters the tank a from a bellmouth directed towards the bottom of the tank, while the outlet pipe r and a safety valve v (for operation at a pressure of 4¢ atmospheres) are at the top. Other means for hindering mixing of the liquids are described. These include a double baffle at the bottom, Fig. 2 (not shown). There may be a number of tanks interconnected and valves or agitators for mixing some cold water with the warmed liquid for attemperation before delivery. There may be an inlet reducing valve, supplementary heating by electricity, coal or oil, or a by-pass for the tank. The Provisional Specification describes also a serpentine pipe (in which the liquid is warmed), room heating, thermostatic control of the inflow and radiators or reflectors such as mirrors and glass covers for increasing the effect of the sun.
